I was in New York on a sweltering day in the summer of 2005, walking through Central Park for the first time, killing time sightseeing while my mates worked their day jobs, when I heard the strains of some far-flung disco.
Like rats to the Pied Piper’s flute, so I am to disco music, so I duly followed the sounds and stumbled upon the Central Park rollerskating rink – where 30 awe-inspiring rollerdancers were skating up a storm to this song.
Like a disco Nigel No Mates, I lay in the sun soaking up the music for two of the best hours of my life, wishing I’d been of partying age at the time this song was ruling the clubs (rather than two years away from being born).
It was just awesome, a genuinely magical moment in my life, and every time I hear this song, I’m transported straight back there. I heart New York – and MFSB*.
Oh yes, and stand by for some awesome summer recommendations from your favourite music bloggers over the coming days. 🙂
