Belle & Sebastian, The Boy With the Arab Strap

Just because it’s the most cheerful song on the planet. And we could all use a smile on a dreary-as day.

And it reminds me of New Year’s 2004/2005 in Glasgow, where. post-Optimo, I made my friends pass up the opportunity to go back to “this guy Stuart’s place” so that I could go to another party to unrequitedly chase some poor chap, where we got kicked out for not being on the guestlist, sneaked back in, got busted again, felt stupid, hid for the rest of the morning and cleaned up all the empties to make amends before shuffling back to where we were staying, cold and depressed, to scoff the rest of our stash and watch Nick Cave videos.

The rest of the gang had a great time jamming with guitars at Stuart’s place. Yep, that Stuart.
