Ella Fitzgerald, Sunshine Of Your Love

As mentioned below (don’t worry, I won’t be dropping Spastik – unless it’s a specific request), I’m privileged to be playing some records this weekend at a blessing ceremony for a wonderful lady and her fabulous chap (they tied the knot in an ceremony in Ghana earlier in the year). So this week’s posts are all about the ultimate wedding songs.

As I don’t know the crowd all that well, I’ve been taking requests and suggestions from the whanau, and overwhelmingly this number has been the most recommended song – and rightly so.

I’ve yet to meet a version of this song I haven’t liked (the obligatory Cream version, Jimi’s, Spanky Wilson’s terrifically feisty rendition etc), but I reckon Ella’s might just top the list.
