So the Big Day Out line-up was announced and everyone yawned.
Well I did… but then it’s never about the headliners, it’s all about the Lilyworld, and the Lilyworld never got any better than Big Day Out 2009 when Son of Dave performed to a small yet perfectly formed twilight crowd who had eschewed the big stages to hear this marvellous one-man-electro-blues-band.
Looking back I can’t believe there weren’t more people there – the other acts on stage at that time included the likes of Serj Tankian, The Trons, Zane Lowe and Silent Disco, hardly setting the world on fire. But if you missed his set, don’t worry, you’re not alone – even the chap chose to go see My Morning Jacket (paarrrrrp). He won’t admit it, but I know he still regrets his decision.
Anyway, check out the below and consider yourself told. You won’t make that mistake again.
PS – how FUCKING AWESOME is Bonkers? You haven’t heard Dizzee til you’ve heard Dave do Dizzee…
